5. MULTIPLAYER
Selecting Multiplayer will pop up a window that allows the player to choose his connection type: whether he wishes to play over a network or the Internet, followed by a table that lists all available games of that type. The player can choose to either join one of these games, or to create his own (in which case he shall be the session's host, or session creator). See Session Creation for more information.
It is recommended that the player with the fastest computer should host the game. Ping ratings accompany sessions in the list. Only sessions created with the same version number as the player's will be included in the list.
In a Multiplayer game, only the host will have access to the session's configuration options. Other players can only customise their own civilisation.
The player also has the option, alongside the choice of connection type, to load a multiplayer game (which takes him to the Load Game window), or view a recording saved in a multiplayer game (see Game Recording).
